Although there are different days and times on which Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated, the most potent time is of course His birth date or birth tithi that is the full moon day during the month of Chaitra. Different communities all across India, celebrate the Hanuman Jayanti Puja on different occasions. However, the most common and popular time is this birth anniversary tithi of Hanuman. Most people in the North India choose this date for performing the puja. The South Indian states follow, different times and dates to perform this puja. But the most popular date and the Hanuman Jayanti Puja date 2016 is 22nd April, Friday.
It is believed and mentioned in different religious texts that Hanuman was born during the sunrise or dawn. Hence, in most of the Hanuman temples, the puja or worshipping of the Vanara God starts early in the morning on this very day. The avid followers of Hanuman maintain celibacy throughout the year and they do not get married. This is because Hanuman Himself was an unmarried God, known as Brahmachari.
Why do Shani puja?
There is yet another puja that you must perform to make sure that you are safe and protected from all kinds of evil eyes and negativities in the world and that is the worshipping of Lord Shani. The day on which Shani Jayanti puja is performed is the Amavasya Tithi during Jyeshtha month. This is because; Lord Shani was born on this tithi. Hence, throughout the North Indian Purnimant calendar, the Shani Jayanti Puja date 2016 is on 5th June, Sunday. Lord Shani, who is the son of Lord Suryadev, rules weekday Saturday and also planet Saturn. On the Shani Jayanti puja date, many people also perform the Shani Dosha Nivarana puja, which makes sure that if Lord Shani is displeased with you and imparts His negative eyes on you, it will be removed from your horoscope.
