Every month on the fourth day after the full moon falls the Sankashti Chaturthi and on this day, the Ganapati Atharvashirsha Sahastravartan path is performed. The Chaturthi is known as Angariki if Tuesday coincides with it. On the event of Sankashti, the Atharvashirsha Sahastravartan is fairly significant. There are certain conditions that make it quite impossible to perform the Atharvashirsha Sahastravartan path ion the Chaturthi day. But on any other favorable day, it is possible to carry out this path. Sorrows are eliminated by Lord Ganesha as per the beliefs of people. In case the avartan is done in the evening then it must be ensured that it is completed by the time of moon rise. Regular food could be taken after offering Lord Ganesha with Nevaidya. About 3 minutes are generally taken by one avartan if it is recited clearly and slowly. Therefore, to complete Sahastravartan, 20 rounds are required if participation is taken by 50 people. For the event, total 2 hours are required- 1 hour for the Aarti and Pooja and 1 for the Avartan. 3 hours would be required with 40 rounds in case participation is there of 25 people.
