Karwa Chauth Pooja Importance:

In the Hindu society, the Karwa Chauth pooja is considered to be very important t by the women. Mainly in India’s Northern parts, this pooja is followed. For the welfare and long life of their husbands, women keep this pooja. Nine days earlier to the festival of Diwali fall the Karwa Chauth Pooja. During the whole day, fast is observed by the married women and the Karwa Chauth Katha is listened by them in the evening. Then after observing the moon, the fast is broken by them.

Karwa Chauth Pooja Procedure:

Goddess Gauri’s idols that are made from the fresh dung of cow are placed as the Karwa Chauth Pooja starts and besides the idol, karwa is placed. To seek the blessings of Goddess Gauri, Tilak is applied to her and then women pray for prospered and blissful life. The married women sit forming a circle and the Karwa Chauth Katha is recited by the woman who is elder in them. The pooja thali is circulated by all the women after the story completion and the Karwa Chauth song accompanies this. After this, all the women return to their house along with the pooja thali and then they wait for the moon to appear. When the moon appears, it is observed through the sieve by the women and offered with Prasad. After this, women see their husband through the same sieve and then by drinking water kept in the Lota, they break their fast.

Karwa Chauth Pooja significance:

Women get up early on the occasion of Karwa Chauth and before sunrise, they eat Sargi which is the food given to them by their mother-in-law. They cannot eat food after the sunrise and till the moon appears in the night, they cannot even drink water. This day is celebrated by the women for the long life and prosperity of their husbands. There is its own meaning of the word Karwa Chauth. The word Chauth signifies the fourth day and the word karwa means eastern pot having a spout. Prosperity and peace is symbolized by Karwa and in every ritual that takes place while doing pooja, is it used.
